Final review
This is the final review we gave for our own film. The final mark was pretty much the same as the peer reviews we received but some of the comments we're different, one comment we we're given is about the editing as there are some jumps in the shots. We also had some comments about the fact we had filmed in the day which doesn't fit with the genre of a horror movie. Our mark for ourselves was 45, others ranged from 38 to 51. The marks were quite generous considering the comments.

Notes for re-shoot
These are the notes for when we re-shoot our film and the things we need to add in or need to change.

Question 5 - addressing target audience
We planned our film to fit in with the target audience of males 18-29 by making sure that it fitted in with the conventional things that were in the slasher films that our group watched. We also fit in with the target audience by using characters that are around the same age group as them, this is also one of the things that makes it fit in with the conventions of a slasher film, as well as the female being the victim and the male being the threat.
The props and location used also fit in with the conventions of the genre as the threat has a weapon and is masked and the location is a normal, everyday place.
So the main thing that we have done to address the target audience is stick to the conventional things that go with our genre of film.
We showed our opening to some of the other students in our class in order to get feedback on whether they liked the film or not, as they are around the same age group that our target audience is. The majority of the feedback was positive, with the main criticism being that we needed more shot types and to sort out a few parts that jump. But the feedback also told us that the majority of the students felt that our opening fitted in well with our genre.

Question 4 -target audience
Identifying the target audience for a film is important because it helps you create your film to fit in with what that specific audience would want to see.
Below are the user ratings and certificate of 5 films that are similar to our own, I can analyse these and then from the information, work out a target audience and certificate for our own film.
A nightmare on elm street (2010) - certificated 18 - contains strong bloody violence and threat.
The user ratings from this film show that the biggest audience for the film is males between the age of 18 and 29 as they are the groups that voted mostly on the film.
Halloween (2007) - certificated 18 - contains strong bloody violence and horror.
the user ratings for this film show that the largest audience was males aged 18-29.
Friday the 13th (2009) - certificated 18 - contains strong bloody violence and strong sex.
The main audience for this film was again males aged 18-29.
Storm Warning (2007) - certificated 18 - contains strong gory violence
The main audience for this film is again males aged 18-29, closely followed by males aged 30-44.
The Shrine (2010) - certificate 18 - contains strong gory violence.
The main audiences for this film were males aged 18-29 and males aged 30-44.
From the user ratings, it's clear that this sort of horror film appeals mainly to males aged 18-29, probably because of the age rating that it is this age and because males tend to watch horror movies more than females.
This target audience would also fit in with the movie that i watched, Nightmare on Elm Street, as the victims within the film are/look within the age group of 18-29 so the target audience would be able to relate well with the characters in the film, therefore making it scarier.
I would give our film a rating of 18. Not only for the fact that our target audience would be 18-29 year olds but also for the fact that the 5 films that i researched all had a certificate of 18. On the bbfc website, the certificate 18 is one that can show "any detailed portrayal of violent or dangerous acts" and as our film is a slasher it will contain those.
